Luura - Cliff, Paros,

Location & practical

Luura Cliff has the confidence of a hotel that understands Paros before trying to impress it. Set above Agia Eirini, with the Aegean stretching towards Antiparos, this new Morgans Originals address takes the familiar Cycladic dream and gives it weight: rough stone walls, dark timber beams, arched plaster doorways, poured concrete floors and rooms where the sea is framed like a painting rather than thrown at you as a sales argument.

That restraint matters on Paros. This is the island of luminous marble, once prized by ancient sculptors for gods, bodies and drapery. Luura does not copy that history, wisely, but it seems to understand the lesson: materials should have presence. The suites feel calm, almost monastic in proportion, softened by linen, ceramics, campaign furniture and oversized original artworks that prevent all this beige elegance from becoming too well behaved. Terraces spill into planting, palms and olive trees, with private pools in the larger categories. Ask for a room with the strongest sunset view and as much terrace privacy as possible; here, the exact angle may matter as much as the room name.

The food gives the hotel its most theatrical twist. By day, Lenea keeps close to the Mediterranean, seasonal and producer driven. By night, Mimi Kakushi brings 1920s Osaka glamour to the cliff, with black cod, low light, dark tableware and just enough drama to remind you that holidays also deserve a little mischief. It is a clever contrast: Paros outside, Osaka after sunset.

Luura Cliff is adults only, polished and clearly expensive. Travellers looking for barefoot chaos, plastic chairs and a village taverna rhythm should book elsewhere and be happy. Those drawn to architecture, art, privacy and a slower kind of island glamour may find one of the most visually distinctive Greek openings of the year.

Good to know.
