Villa Tinella

Location & practical

A Room with a Fresco, a Pool with a View

  • Original frescoes meet Italian design.
  • Infinity pool overlooking Piedmont's vineyards.
  • Private country living for ten.
  • €500 / night
  • 5 rooms
  • Calosso, Monferrato, Piedmont

The fresco above your bed might be Villa Tinella's finest argument for sleeping in. It's a reminder of the Calosso house's Stile Liberty past, still visible in its patterned floors and ceilings more than three metres high. The renovation brings in a Cesar kitchen and contemporary Italian furniture, while leaving plenty of the old house's character intact.

Outside, the view runs across Piedmont's vineyards. There's a ten-metre saltwater infinity pool, a long table under the pergola and a Kamado barbecue for evenings when nobody feels like going out. On the other side of the house, a courtyard planted with roses and herbs offers a quieter place for breakfast. And with a three-metre kitchen island, cooking for a group can be part of the pleasure.

With five bedrooms and three bathrooms, Villa Tinella suits two families or a gathering of friends. Children have cots, games, swings and a trampoline; adults have some of Italy's finest wine country on their doorstep. Restaurants and a supermarket are nearby, while Alba, Asti and Barbaresco are within easy reach by car. This is a private, self-catered house, with the pool open from May to October.
